Beyond wins development award

05 Nov, 2009 10:19 AM
VICTOR HARBOR – The Beyond Today development at Port Elliot was last week named South Australia’s Best Residential Development.

The Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIASA) recognised Beyond for forward thinking regarding sustainable outcomes and the “generous vision” of developing a community with the benefits of open space.

Environmentally Sustainable Developments (ESD) is a family business and spokesperson Adam Wright says they are thrilled.

“We are so passionate about the project,” Mr Wright said.

“We really believe what we are doing here at Beyond is a vast improvement on typical development models and for the UDIA to agree is just fantastic,” he added.

Beyond received the ‘Award for Excellence’ for ‘Residential Development 50-600 Allotments’, however no development was awarded for larger developments.

This places Beyond head and shoulders above the rest of the developments in the state.

Beyond will now represent the state in the national awards in Sydney in March 2010.

The announcement followed th

“Firstly South Coast Constructions, one of our display builders won two awards for their Acacia display home in Beyond, they then went onto also win the Master Builder of the year for South Australia.

Beyond is a reversal of typical development models, instead of 87.5-percent housing and roads and the required 12.5-percent open space, Beyond boasts over 75% parks, reserves and wetlands. This means almost every block shares at least one boundary with a reserve.

Energy efficient guidelines ensure all homes will cost much less to run while generating great capital growth.

“The development is attracting people who know the running costs of a home and appreciate the savings and sustainability of being here,” Mr Wright said.

Alexandrina Mayor Kym McHugh congratulates the Beyond Development on the award.

“The Wright family have brought their personal passion to life and are leading the field in environmental and sustainable developments,” Mr McHugh said.

“We have an outstanding relationship with the Wright family and the Beyond project and it is great to see a local developer and builder be the best in the state and be recognised.”
