VICTOR HARBOR – It was a media frenzy when the Carly Ryan murder trial came to Victor Harbor last Thursday.

The 14 member Supreme Court jury reconstructed the teens final days, visiting various locations in the region.

Accompanied by the Victorian father and son accused of murdering Miss Ryan, jurors visited locations in Victor Harbor and Port Elliot where Miss Ryan’s body was found at Horseshoe Bay more than two and a half years ago.

In Victor Harbor, jurors visited the Hotel Crown where CCTV cameras recorded Miss Ryan for the last time before her death, and were also taken to Subway and a fish and chip shop where she and her alleged killers bought food.

They also visited Woolworths shopping centre before going to Horseshoe Bay, where it is alleged the father, 50, attacked Miss Ryan from behind, pushing her head first into the sand and punching her in the head.

The jury also stopped at Mount Compass where police say Miss Ryan’s mobile phone was found.

Police forensic examiners told the court last week that Miss Ryan was alive when she went into the water and remained there drowning for 30 minutes.

A Port Elliot woman found the Adelaide Hills teenager’s body in the water when taking an early morning walk at Horseshoe Bay on February 20, 2007.

Kim Griffith gave evidence at the trial last week, describing how she found Miss Ryan’s body and initially thought what she had spotted was seaweed.

Miss Ryan’s mother, Sonya Ryan, has this week been giving evidence at the trial, which is expected to last about two months.

Prosecutors have alleged the father and his 19-year-old son, whose identities are suppressed, created a cyberspace alter ego in the hopes of seducing Miss Ryan into a sexual relationship.

The trial is continuing in the South Australian Supreme Court.
