Local businesses compete

24 Feb, 2010 11:30 PM
REGION - Two of the Fleurieu Peninsula's leading tourism businesses will represent South Australia on the national stage at the 2009 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards.

Middleton's Surf & Sun and Hindmarsh Island's Narnu Farm will compete in their respective categories - Tour &/or Transport Operators and Standard Accommodation at the national awards in Hobart tomorrow, Friday February 26.

The awards recognise and promote excellence in tourism, and are the pinnacle of achievement for the tourism industry in Australia. Finalists are drawn from the state and territory Tourism Awards winners across 26 categories.

South Australian Tourism Industry Council Chief Executive Ward Tilbrook said the national tourism awards provide the opportunity for South Australian tourism products to be recognised among the best of the best in the industry and to reward businesses for an outstanding year of achievement.

"More than 50 representatives from the state's tourism industry will be flying our flag and supporting South Australia," Mr Tilbrook said.

"I wish all South Australian finalists the best of luck in Hobart."
