FOOTBALL: Victor Harbor Football Club will turn the clock back on May 30 when the club will have a memorable reunion of the magnificent success the club had in the 90s.
Premiership players are coming back to the club from as far as Albury/Wodonga and Darwin to help celebrate a time when the Roos ruled the GSFL.
Former Glenelg champions Tony Symonds, who coached the team to three premierships, Ross Gibbs, Clayton Lamb, Paul Hallahan, Peter Maynard, Chris Melican and Rod Campbell are all returning to mix with the Reid brothers Peter and Gavin, Ian Barry, Ian Croshaw, Cameron Blizzard, Rick Searle, Pat Carpenter, Jamie Brown, Ian Basham, Mark Seidel, Jim Lihou and Grant Levy who coached the last flag in 1999.
The club had five A grade coaches during the era with Randall Wright leading the side to the first two flags in 90 and 91, Dennis Russell in 1992, Tony Symonds in 93, 94 and 97, Kym Smith 95 and Grant Levy in 1999.
Five coaches in a decade of dominance speak volumes of the administration of the time and one president was Andrew Francis.
“It is going to be a fantastic weekend for us to catch up and relive some very successful and happy times at the club.
“We had great support on and off the field and I hope everyone who was involved whether being a sponsor, supporter or player can make one of the events we are holding over the weekend,” Mr Francis said.
