TRIATHLON: The Asics Victor Triathlons Fun Run/Walk has become an institution on the Fleurieu Peninsula and attracts some of the best tri-athletes in Australia and overseas, but its growth is also attributed to greater family involvement.
On Sunday, March 11 the event will be held and there are categories that will have the serious competitor and categories for the not so serious participant.
It certainly caters for all ages and genders.
The Porteous family of Victor Harbor is one family that becomes involved and includes dad Shane, mum Emily and their children and nephew aged from five to nine years of age.
"It is a good event that promotes healthy active living," Shane said.
"The kids love it and it is a great challenge.
"The kids did it last year entering in the Kids Mini Triathlon and really enjoyed it, so they can't wait to do it again."
Race director Sid James says entries for the 2012 event are coming in fast, but still more volunteers are required to help run the event.
"There are no hard tasks and all volunteers will be reimbursed for their time and effort," Sid said.
