NETBALL: Trevor Ablett has been umpiring netball in the Great Southern Netball Association for many years, but enjoyed a new and exciting experience when he umpired at the Masters Games in Sydney this month.

Trevor travelled over with the Coorong Coasters who competed in the 40Bs and finished fifth, just missing out on a medal.

“It was a great effort by them playing against other countries and they did themselves proud,” Trevor said.

“It felt great to be part of the Masters Games.

“The feeling was really good mixing with people from other countries.

“It was exciting knowing the level I had to umpire, as I had to step up to another level,” Trevor said.

Trevor umpired 30 games over nine days, which included two gold medal finals and one bronze medal final and the teams were from Sri Lanka, New Guinea, New Zealand, Norfolk Island and teams from all around Australia.
