TRANSPLANT GAMES: The World Transplant Games will be held on the Gold Coast on August 22 and with the help of Variety and the community of Goolwa transplant children such as Josephine Drury can compete.
Over $5,000 has been raised for the children to compete and Josephine of Goolwa will compete in swimming, running, ball throwing and ten pin bowling.
“I would like to thank the people of the South Coast for helping me go to the games and in particular the community of Goolwa.
“I am aiming to win a gold medal in every event,” Josephine said.
The money has been raised due to a team effort from Variety Bashers Debbie Drew, Mal Russell, Vic Piscopo, John Veal (Kart mania Richmond), Larry Cavallaro, Ken and Steve and the Beagle Boys.
They have run raffles and an opportunity to win a set of golf clubs and play a round of golf with Darren Lehmann and Les Burdett.
Variety also donated through an emergency appeal air fares and entry fees for the children to attend the games.
“I think everyone in Goolwa would have bought a ticket such has been the support for Josephine,” organiser Debbie Drew said.
