ARCHERY: Pat Coghlan took on the best Compound Bow archers in the world in Turkey on June 4 to 8 and the dead eye shooter from the Fleurieu was pleased with the results.
World Cup 3 was held and after an excellent qualification round, Pat finished the week with a third in the Individual Target round and a second on the mixed team round.
A positive week, as Pat now has a world ranking of number two and number one in Australia and the Commonwealth.
“It is the highest ranking of an Australian ever in the Compound Bow class. “With these results I am back in the hunt for the World Cup Finals,” Pat said happily.
Pat is off to China in the first week of August for the final leg of the World Cup and will aim to finish in the top three once again.
The World Cup is the stepping stone for Pat’s ultimate goal of becoming number one in the world.
“I need to win in Korea at the World Championships in September this year.
“This is my Wimbledon, where you get maximum points and if I win there I will claim number one spot.
“I am ecstatic to be this high and Simon Fairweather has been working with me for the past six weeks reducing my anxiety levels.
“I must get rid of the nerves and focus on the process, not the many people watching.
“In Europe the media are everywhere covering the World Cup,” Pat said.
Pat is married to Rachel and has a son Scout who is three years old and is enjoying having time away from travelling the world and spending some much needed time at home with his family.
“I am home for six weeks, which is my longest stint at home for six months, so it will be good to practice, rest and spend time with the family,” Pat said.
