REGION – The Fleurieu Peninsula is included in a severe thunderstorm warning issued to parts of South Australia.
People in the Mount Lofty Ranges, Riverland, Murraylands, Upper South East, Lower South East, and parts of the Adelaide Metropolitan, Mid North, and North West Pastoral districts could face heavy rainfall and damaging winds.
The Bureau of Meteorology says thunderstorms in the south of the state are “likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours”.
Towns which could be affected include Roseworthy, Renmark, Mount Gambier, Clare, Murray Bridge, Naracoorte and Bordertown.
The State Emergency Services urges people to secure or put away loose items around properties; move cars under cover and away from trees; keep clear of fallen power lines, storm water drains, and creeks; don’t drive, ride, or walk through floodwaters; and stay indoors and away from windows.
The Bureau of Meteorology will issue the next warning by 5.30pm. Stay updated by visiting www.bom.gov.au or calling 1300 659 215.
