National Law Week is an annual event held in May to provide a chance for the community to learn more about the law and the legal system, and its role in society.

This year Law Week is being held from May 15 to 21.

The theme of Law Week in 2017 is “Law and Justice in Your Community”.

Unless someone has a direct association with the system, legal matters can often seem mysterious and confusing.

Programs throughout Law Week are developed by each state’s Law Society and can demystify and explain some of the processes and requirements of the legal system, as well as bring members of the community in contact with professionals.

Law Week activities are designed to include people from diverse backgrounds, organisations and perspectives, and can range from courthouse tours, seminars on various aspects of the law and free legal advisory services, to law awards, trivia nights and even sporting events for legal professionals.
