YANKALILLA – It seems eating cake can be good for you – and people you don’t know.

The District Council of Yankalilla Community Services Team is running a Bake a Wish event on Wednesday, May 24 to raise money for the Make a Wish Foundation, which grants ‘wishes’ for children with life-threatening illnesses.

Organiser Julianne Rilstone said six recipes will be cooked up in the morning by some of the participants in last year’s Cooking for Blokes program along with volunteers keen to help. The goods will be sold at The Centre from 1pm onwards to fundraise for a foundation Julianne says is special.

“I am a brand new grandmother so that’s a personal note. Work-wise, it fits in with what we want to do – more cooking and using the kitchen more,” she said.
