The conditions were extremely windy in the first term on Saturday in the match between Strathalbyn and Myponga/Sellicks at Myponga.

The Mudlarks had the breeze in the first term and immediately mounted an attack with consecutive goals to Duldig. Christie responded for the Roosters, but Myponga/Sellicks looked a team that were not going to be denied. The Strath defence could not control Duldig who kicked his third for the quarter, which was followed by a long goal from Gum.

In the second, the hail came and this diluted Strath’s use with the breeze. James, Cousins, Tucker and Slattery were playing well for the Roosters and Duffield put a stop to Duldig’s influence.

The margin at halftime was 11 points in favour of Myponga/Sellicks. Goals in the third to Ogilvie and James Hutchinson made the task tough for the Roosters, but Slattery and Maloney had other ideas. At three quarter time the margin was only eight points. In the last, Allen and Clarke lifted for the Mudlarks, while Cousins, Slattery, James and Pegler tried to drive their team home.

It was not enough and the Mudlarks won by 20 points after goals to Shaun Hutchinson and Gum, who had been well held by Clark, and the Roosters could not get a major after all their efforts to push the ball forward.
