FOCUS: Full Circle Physiotherapy owner and principal physiotherapist Ann Traeger-Spees has a huge interest in pelvic health, which grew after having her own children.

As the name of her business suggests, Full Circle Physiotherapy owner and principal physiotherapist Ann Traeger-Spees really has completed a full circle – returning to the Fleurieu Peninsula in 2010.

Ann grew up in Goolwa, attending Goolwa Primary School and Victor Harbor High School before completing her studies at Scotch College in 1988.

Having spent many of her early years going to a physiotherapist for various sporting injuries, she decided early on this was the career for her.

She graduated from UniSA in 1992 and since then has worked in various settings, including inpatients, out patients and school settings both in Australia and overseas.

She travelled to the USA for a working holiday in 1996 and stayed for 14 years.

After working in a school setting working with paediatric clients she established a successful private practice in the New England town of Mystic, Connecticut.

She completed further studies based on the Feldenkrais Method of movement re-education during this time as well as expanding her studies into other area of bodywork, which has heavily influenced her wholistic approach.

Her interest in pelvic health grew after having her own children, who are now 10 and 12.

She has completed advanced training and continues to pursue education in the area of women, men and pelvic health.

She works closely with local GPs and visiting gynaecological, colorectal and urology specialists as well as dietitians, psychologists and sexual health counsellors.

Ann is particularly passionate about destigmatizing and educating the general public about his area and has recently presented her Female Tour Down Under to groups in Victor Harbor and Goolwa, where it was extremely well received.

Her passion to educate on the topic stems from seeing so many people who have suffered unnecessarily, often for long periods of times, mainly due to the embarrassment of mentioning their symptoms to a health care provider.

She integrates this with her in depth knowledge of musculoskeletal and pain science to be able to offer an in depth assessment of many complex and often quite intimate problems.

Some of the conditions Ann commonly treats include incontinence, sexual and pelvic pain disorders, and pelvic organ prolapse, as well as providing pre and postnatal care and education. She continues to see patients with musculoskeletal conditions and she has a particular interest in spinal and pelvic girdle pain.

Full Circle Physiotherapy has locations in Goolwa and Victor Harbor and a referral is not required for an appointment.
