Encounter Bay defeated McLaren in football

A last quarter full of energy and character enabled Encounter Bay to run over McLaren on Saturday. The Bays led at every break, but the scores were tight all day. A six goal performance by best on ground Eli Horrocks ensured the Bays kept its finals hopes alive.

At half time McLaren were only down by 11 points and an upset was possible. McLaren stayed in the contest in the third to keep challenging the Bays. The margin was 16 points at three quarter time and the Bays fired up in the last term to kick 4-2 to McLaren two straight goals to win by 30 points.

Encounter Bay defender Turner kept the magical Rigney to only two goals for the day, but Proctor and Jeffries for McLaren got off the leash to bag three each. Best for the Bays were Horrocks, Davis-Neale, West, Turner, Mason and Fraser Tonkin. Best for McLaren were Lachlan Mathews, Eric Hansen, Lambert., Tom Fenoughty, Steve Kahl and Jeffries.
