You cannot relax in the Great Southern Football League. Round 10 pulled off one of the surprises of the season with Goolwa/Port Elliot easily defeating Willunga by 50 points. The Magpies announced themselves a serious contender for this year’s flag and end a 40 year drought.

In other games Victor Harbor, who were in the five before Saturday, found themselves out of it after Strathalbyn came to town and pulled off another upset, winning by 46 points, Mount Compass destroyed Langhorne Creek by 96 points, Encounter Bay defeated McLaren by 30 points and Yankalilla beat Myponga/Sellicks by 19 points.

Round 11 is sure to pull off something exciting as well. It will not be at Willunga, as the Demons will surely bounce back against McLaren. Willunga had one of those days in round 10 and will get a lift from Beath, Altus, Standfield and the Collier boys. Alexopoulos and Garrett are also consistent performers. McLaren are relying on too few, hence their position on the ladder, but Lachlan Mathews, Eric Hansen and Lambert all play good footy.

Kiss Of Death – Willunga by 60 points.

Encounter Bay will need to play four quarters against the Mudlarks, as they have played well over the past month. Carroll is a useful injection for the Mudlarks and the forward power of Duldig and Gum will worry the defence of the Bays led by Turner, Hamish Tonkin and West.

Kiss Of Death – Encounter Bay by 9 points.

Yankalilla play Victor Harbor and the Roos need to not rely on Alleway and Ross to kick their goals. Sam Basham and Alex Osborne a badly needed back in the side to counter the power of Kane, Sidebottom and Kay.

Kiss Of Death – Yankalilla by 27 points.

Langhorne Creek host Goolwa/Port Elliot and how the Hawks stop this confident Ferrari, good luck! Campbell, Pearce, McKinaly and Fry mixed with the strength of Slattery, Berry, Rugolo and Ebert is a great formula for success. The Hawks will need a lift from Tonkin, Perrey, Kellock and Howell.

Kiss Of Death – Goolwa/Port Elliot by 16 points.

Strathalbyn play Mount Compass and the Dogs are hot. McKenzie will take Simounds and Brokenshire will man up on Elliott, but who will control Pinyon and Hill? Daniel, Hoban, the Corbett boys and Lemm run the middle for the Dogs.

Kiss Of Death – Mount Compass by 7 points.
