A BIG STRIKE: Victor Harbor White hockey player Piper Hudson winds up for a big hit during this hockey season. The Victor Harbor Hockey Club women won both games on Saturday.

The Victor Harbor Hockey Club scored two important wins with Victor White defeating Aldinga Green 4-nil and Victor Blue defeating Yankalilla 1-nil.

Victor White began the game with some solid plays into their attack through good ball passing and control from Elfraan Williams and Nicole Byrne.

Aldinga Green's defence in the first half worked very hard, goalie Sarah Huntington repelled the ball well and her fullbacks worked well together to move the ball out of defence.

Unfortunately for them the Victor forwards seemed to be everywhere and constantly returned fire on Aldingas defence.

Abi Mortimer and Erin Barlin (Green) never gave up and applied pressure where possible. White's Elf Williams was named best on ground and scored two goals for her team.

Brie Anna Wilsdon was solid in fullback and set her team’s forward movements up many times with her impressive clearing hits. Victor’s two other goals were scored by Emily Hutchinson and Amy Byrons.

This was another good win for Victor White to keep their finals dream alive.

In the Victor Blue and Yankalilla match, both sides were depleted, but this didn’t mean the game was any less intense or competitive between these teams.

Nat Gibbs and Querida Williams both had great games and worked so well together all game moving around the field to try and get through the Yankalilla defence.

Alice Jagger and Annabel Roberts played a solid game in fullback for Victor making goal scoring for Yank a very hard task. Kate Irvine, Megan Costigan and Carol DeBricassart played well together for Yank and constantly blocked Victor’s attempt on goal.

Querida Williams scored Victor’s goal from a bobbled hit which was deflected into goal by Yank’s defence.

Yvette Nicholls and Kate Hancock both kept Yank’s Vanessa Black on her toes all game with many runs into their attack. Victor earned a hard fought one nil win over Yankalilla.
