GOOLWA BEACH – The combined efforts of police, the public, and a pooch resulted in the arrest of a Goolwa Beach man early Saturday morning, September 9.

Police received numerous reports of a man entering yards in the Heggarton Road and Ferguson Road area at Goolwa Beach just before 1.30am.

The area was cordoned off and Police Dog Ben was put to work. With further phone calls from people in the area, Ben tracked down the 20-year-old hiding in bushes in the backyard of a Ferguson Street house.

The man was arrested and searched. On him were a number of items allegedly stolen.

He was charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass, dishonestly taking property without consent, five counts of interfering with a motor vehicle without consent, and breach of bail.

He faced Christies Beach Magistrates Court on Monday, September 11, did not apply for bail, and was remanded in custody to face court again on November 21.
