VICTOR HARBOR –  Sid James is maintaining momentum and more importantly his health in the quest to compete in the Hawaiian Ironman event on October 14.

Sid, a quadriplegic, will have the support of good friend and star triathlete Kevin Fergusson to push him around the course.

On Sunday, September 17, Kevin and Sid took part in the City to Bay Fun Run where they finished the 12 kilometres in 49 minutes.

“It was unbelievable to finish in that time, as most people go close to around the hour. Kev is in great form,” Sid said.

“For Hawaii, Kev will be pushing me 42 kilometres in the run, towing me 3.8 kilometres in the swim and 180 kilometres on the bike.”

Sid and his support group leave for Hawaii on October 6 and Sid believes he has never felt better.

“I am very nervous and a little scared, but cannot wait to get there and check out the scenery and course. I am in racing form at 70 kilograms and in great health,” he said.
