Adelaide Symphony Orchestra returns for STARS event

The Adelaide Symphony Orchestra will return once again to the McLaren Vale region for the first time in two years as part of a Southern Theatre and Arts (STARS) event.

The event will take place at the Tatachilla Lutheran College Stadium on Saturday October 7 and will be a great opportunity to experience the orchestra on your own doorstep.

ORCHESTRA NIGHT: STARS committee members Carolyn Colling, Liz Elder, Peter Elder and Meredith Bowman with Minko Wines' Margo Kellett, event sponsor.

The doors open at 6.30pm where patrons will be able to buy a glass of wine from Minko Wines, the sponsor of the event.

The concert then commences at 7.30pm.

The STARS committee has secured the orchestra for a second time after what was an extremely successful concert in 2015 and should expect another large audience.

The theme for this year is ‘A Mediterranean Affair’ and will feature some pieces including Mendelssohn Symphony No. 4 ‘Italian’.

It will be a night to remember and a visit to the STARS website will enable you to buy tickets to the event through Try Booking.

Just head to www.stars.org.au where tickets are available for $45, or for $40 if you are a STARS member.

The STARS mission is to foster the arts in the southern region and present music, theatre and dance to the large number of arts lovers in the community.

Each year STARS presents opera, jazz, intimate and large orchestral concerts in Willunga and nearby and the headquarters for most events is in the Festival Hall and Show Hall, Main Road Willunga, adding a cultural content to Recreation Park.

The focus over the last few years is to support music in schools, particularly Aldinga Beach Primary School where Musica Viva residency ensures every child receives some sort of music tuition, which is impossible without financial support from STARS and other generous people in the community.

Plans are also in place for a concert in another local junior school which will introduce light opera and orchestra for young people.

The STARS committee members and all of the volunteers involved look forward to seeing you at the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra event, hosted at Tatachilla Lutheran College on October 7.
