National Carers Week (October 15-21) is a time to celebrate the 2.7 million Australians who provide unpaid care and support to a family member or friend with a disability, mental illness, chronic condition, terminal illness, or who is frail aged.
Carers SA CEO David Militz said: “If carers were not there to provide this support, the impact on various sectors, such as aged care, disability, health, mental health would be enormous. Carers are vital and National Carers Week provides a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge these very important people.”
Carers SA Southern Fleurieu will celebrate family carers by hosting two events in the coming weeks: a “Take a Break” afternoon tea on Wednesday October 18 and a Carer Forum and luncheon on Friday October 20.
The forum will provide carers the opportunity to hear from guest speakers from the Regional Assessment Team, Aged Care Assessment Team and Home Package providers.
Bookings essential. Carers and staff available for interview if required. Contact 8552 3173.
