Willunga were sent in to bat by Goolwa and scored 9/163 from their allotted overs.
Willunga’s key inclusion for the 2017/18 season, Simon Roberts top scored with 60 runs.
The wickets were shared between Robertson who took 2/28, Ashton-Place 3/31 and Lawrence 3/31.
On the fast Goolwa oval the score at just over four an over looked a target that could be easily reached by the Goolwa strong batting line up.
However the Willunga attack bowled with great line and this frustrated the Goolwa Batting line up which wanted to get on with the business of scoring the necessary runs.
Wickets fell at regular intervals and there were no partnerships established by the Goolwa team.
Nissen and Evans were the only two batsmen to get to double figures with Nissen scoring 18 runs and Evans 30 top give some respectability to the score.
Goolwa were bowled out for 95 runs, 68 runs in arrears of the Willunga total.
Goldner was the pick of the Willunga bowlers with a five wicket haul and he had great support from McIvor.
A good start to the season for Willunga, which looks a formidable force in season 2017/18, while Goolwa will need to re-group and continue to build on the competitiveness it maintained in previous seasons.
