McLaren Districts defeats Mount Compass in Great Southern cricket

McLaren Districts won the toss and elected to bat first, but lost an early wicket to the tight bowling or Mount Compass’ Crees.

A solid partnership was then set by Curtis and Petrucci of 66, before Curtis fell for 38.

Petrucci and Hodges at the crease, but  Petrucci fell for 26. Hodges and Natale then steadied and pushed through a tough patch to set a respectable total of 8/141. Hodges finishing with a solid 18 and Natale finishing fast for 29. 

Compass began their innings facing some discipline bowling from Nairn and Fechner, which gained the early wickets of Bartch and Burgess. The tight bowling was continuing with Britt teaming up with Fechner and once the important wicket of R Garrard was taken by Britt, McLaren appeared in the box seat.

B Garrard steadied for Compass with some support from Jones, however again some tight bowling from Wilson caused B Garrard's dismissal for 33. McLaren finished the innings getting the last six wickets for 13 runs and bowling Compass out for 79.
