Encounter Bay play McLaren Districts in cricket

Encounter Bay won the toss and elected to bat in the first two day match of the season on the turf at Encounter Bay.

Parry and Grenfell opened the batting against the attack consisting of Nairn and Goodieson of McLaren Districts.

Parry was soon caught behind off Goodieson. Hoffmann joined Grenfell and together they took the Bays into a good position at the first drinks break at 1/59. After drinks Bradley had Grenfell leaving a ball that crashed into middle stump to break the partnership. Hoffmann fell soon after in a good period for Mclaren.

It was the key pair of Lintern and Overall at the crease.The match was evenly poised at 3/90 at tea.

Lintern and Overall moved the score to 140 before Duncombe had Lintern stumped to break the dangerous partnership. Overall continued doing his thing going past 50 in the process with young Magor supporting him well with 18 before he too fell to Duncombe, Wilson then quickly picked up the wicket of Moller.

Burns joined Overall and formed a solid partnership with Overall as he looked to score back to back centuries. He was right on track before unfortunately falling three runs short, out for 97.

The Bays finished with 9/246. Overall the standout with 97, while Bradley the pick of the bowlers finishing with 4/40 off 17 overs
