Victor Harbor – More than 300 people attended the Remembrance Day ceremony at the Cross of Sacrifice on Soldiers Memorial Gardens. The area is a site of Remembrance, as people of all ages attended to pay respects to all who had and are serving in wartime. President of the Victor Harbor branch of the RSL David Miller and chaplain Brian Chalmers spoke and acknowledged the many who had lost their lives in wars. The RSL also unveiled a plaque signifying the seven flag poles at Soldiers Memorial Gardens, which has the support of Victor Harbor RSL, Victor Harbor RSL Women’s Auxiliary, Merchant Navy SA, Victor Harbor and Port Elliot Lions Club, Victor Harbor R-7 School, Victor Harbor High School, Encounter Lutheran and Veterans SA.
Yankalilla – A small crowd gathered at the Yankalilla Memorial Wall on November 11 to honour those who have served and are currently serving in the armed forces. The 605 Squadron cadets formed a catafalque party and Yankalilla RSL sub-branch Brian Clark lead the service. Reverend Carol Chambers gave a presentation before wreaths were laid by the Yankalilla RSL, women’s auxiliary, Vietnam veterans, the District Council of Yankalilla, the Red Cross, and members of the public.
