Strathalbyn Football Club opens its doors

The $2.2 million Strathalbyn Football/RSL Club facility was officially opened by State Minister for Sport and Recreation Leon Bignell on Sunday, November 12.

The building was completed due to a collaborative effort from state, federal and local government and also the RSL and football clubs.

In attendance were members of the Strathalbyn Football and RSL clubs, Federal Senator David Fawcett, Federal member for Mayo Rebekha Sharkie, Alexandrina Council mayor Keith Parkes, CEO Glenn Rappensberg, councillors Anne Woolford, James Stewart and Ben Brazzelotto and Member for Heysen Isobel Redmond.

More than 200 people were present, as Mr Bignell spoke on the importance of the facility for a regional community. “It is an amazing facility. I was here on grand final day and this is a monument to all the volunteers and all those who have contributed to this project,” Mr Bignell said.

Councillor Woolford presented a personal hand made cross stitch caricature to the club.
