The Women’s and Children’s Hospital (WCH) Foundation is seeking to raise $2.5 million for the Beach House project over the next 18 months.
A group of volunteers calling themselves the ‘Fleurieu Beach House Team’ consist of Caz Glass, Mark Richards and Olivia Knott and they are passionately fundraising for the Beach House to be built at Encounter Bay.
On Thursday, November 9, they organised a fundraiser at Eat at Whalers to coincide with the Spring Racing Carnival’s Oaks Day and raised in excess of $8000 for the project. More than 120 people attended the function.
The Paediatric Palliative Care team at the WCH Foundation looks after families who are living with a diagnosis which will mean a short life for their child.
In the face of such sadness these families bravely live the best days possible with their child and their siblings.
The Women’s and Children’s Hospital Foundation wants to build a loving, life-celebrating sanctuary in Victor Harbor, which will welcome families who are caring around-the-clock for children suffering long term and life limiting illnesses, to a place of comfort, peacefulness and practicality.
Two blocks have been purchased at Encounter Lakes in Victor Harbor and the next phase of this exciting project will be to consult with an architect, builders, hospital staff and families to design a house that will meet the specific medical needs of children with a life limiting or long-term illness and their families.
