Kristi Harvey and Lauren Buchanan have been appointed co-captains of South Adelaide's inaugural senior women's team.
Harvey and Buchanan were selected by their peers and coaches to lead a five-woman leadership group, which also includes basketball recruit Mollie Mckendrick and experienced campaigners Emily Woods and Stacey Huddleston.
Both women said they were excited to be leading the Panthers together in 2018.
"There is something really special going on here and I just want to be a part of it," said Harvey.
"I'm really looking forward to the challenge and sharing that with Kristi," said Buchanan.
Known to her teammates as ‘Lep’, Harvey is a powerful forward with premiership experience at Statewide Super Women's League level, after playing in Norwood's 2017 grand final triumph. Harvey is also familiar with South Adelaide senior women's coach Krissie Steen, having also enjoyed SAWFL premiership success with the Steen-led Adelaide University in 2017.
Prior to crossing to Australian Rules, Harvey spent five years with Adelaide United's Lady Reds as a goalkeeper.
Buchanan began her football career with Morphettville Park in 2016, following a successful period as a sprinter that saw her claim the 2014 Bay Sheffield.
In this first year of football, Buchanan showcased her explosive pace on the way to SAWFL premiership success under Panthers assistant coach Rick Watts and alongside current teammates Danielle Goding, Stacey Huddleston, Caitlin Williams, Bronwen Bosley, Courtney Gum and Tait Mackrill.
