GOOLWA – On Friday, November 13, Signal Point resounded with the sound of bagpipes as the Scottish Diaspora Tapestry exhibition officially opened.
Tour director Jenny Bruce said although some pieces have been previously displayed in Norway, Italy and France, Goolwa is the first venue where all 305 hand-embroidered panels have been shown together.
Five of the 15 South Australian panels were embroidered by the South Coast Embroiderers Guild and Strathalbyn Stitchers, and feature early settlers and seafarers who came to the Southern Fleurieu area.
The exhibition will be at Goolwa until November 22, open from 10am to 4pm, with local embroidery groups present to guide people through the display. For more details visit www.scottishdiasporatapestry.org.
