The City of Victor Harbor is seeking nominations for community representatives to serve on its Arts and Culture Committee.
There are six community representative positions available on the committee for people who have relevant experience in the arts and culture industries, or related industries.
The Council’s Arts and Culture Committee has been established under Section 41 of the Local Government Act in order to provide advice to council in relation to the review of the City Vibrancy (Arts and Culture) Policy, development of the City of Victor Harbor Arts and Culture Strategy, and implementation of initiatives that cultivate a vibrant community culture in line with the Community Plan 2036 and Strategic Directions 2016-2020.
“Victor Harbor has a diverse arts industry which has been steadily growing over the last few years,” City of Victor Harbor mayor Graham Philp said.
“The establishment of an Arts and Culture Committee aims to assist council capitalise on this growth and facilitate further opportunities within the industry. I encourage members of the community with experience within the arts and culture sectors, as well as a passion for Victor Harbor to nominate for a position on this committee.”
The establishment of an arts and culture committee has been on the council agenda for the past three years with City of Victor Habror councillor and economic and development and tourism committee chair Moira Jenkins being the main driver.
