A Callington woman has been arrested and charged after crashing her car into a tree in November, killing her seven-year-old son.
The woman was arrested after Major Crash investigated the fatal collision in Kuitpo.
Police will allege that the 34-year-old woman was driving with methamphetamine in her system at the time of the crash.
She was charged with aggravated causing death by dangerous driving and causing injury by dangerous driving.
The silver Holden station wagon hit a tree on Brookman Road around 6.30am on November 13, and the boy died at the scene.
Following the crash, the mother was flown to Flinders Medical Centre in a serious condition, while the boy’s twin brother was flown to the Women’s and Children’s Hospital in a serious condition.
The boys’ two-year-old sister was transported by ambulance to hospital.
The woman has been bailed to appear in the Mount Barker Magistrates Court on March 14, 2018.
