The Victor Harbor Bowling Club went into the Christmas/New Year break with great satisfaction with the holding of two fantastic events.
The club had an open invitation for the Night Owls crowd and held its Bridgstone Super Triples competition.
Night Owls bowlers at Victor Harbor were invited to participate in a ‘spider’ at the start, which raised $110 for Relay for Life.
Surprisingly, about 20 Santas turned up for the night, seemingly lost, and not surprisingly, struggled to come to grips with the skill of bowling.
‘The Spares’ won the competition convincingly with 33+21, although the runners-up was very close between McCracken Snoozers on 30+16, Granite 30+12, Seachange 30+10 and Coasters on 30+6.
In the Bridgestone Super Triples winners of the day were Ian Sellars, Bill Nash and Peter O’Sullivan on 57+28, with the combination of Ian Fuller, Dale Speck and Ben Fidock coming in second on 57+17.
Third went to Geoff Dohse, Paul Sparre, and Seby Consalvo on 56+5.
Winners of the losers were Leith Davies, Bill Wyhoon and Mike Smalley.
There was a big response to the SEAL award winners when the team of Graham Wilson, Bill Anderson and Nigel Hewitt was announced with a total of 9-15 sealing a popular ‘win’.
Pennant matches will commence on January 6.
The Victor Harbor Bowling Club has been closed during the Christmas/New Year period, so it is hoped members will return to bowls in good condition, as the selectors will be taking notice!
