Work is nearly ready to begin on the highly-anticipated playground at Myponga.
Plans have been approved and the design has been laid out on signs on posts, and now the first sod has been turned by Member for Mawson and Recreation Minister Leon Bignell and Myponga Progress Association chair Larissa Barry.
Mr Bignell congratulated Mrs Barry and the progress association on the amount of work done in a short time.
“Every town has ideas but it needs someone to bring it together and turn ideas into plans,” Mr Bignell said.
“It isn’t just about the playground, it’s the way the community has come together to work on a concept and present it to the state government.”
He said the playground would be enjoyed by both local families, and visitors, and predicted the hand-operated water pump would be popular with the kids.
“Everyone in the town is going to use it,” he said.
“But it will give people a chance to stop. People often travel through but don’t get to see the community.
