This week, the club welcomed Magdalena Frommelt, a visiting Rotarian from the Principality of Liechtenstein in the heart of Europe, the fourth smallest country.

Magdalena, who is on a world trip, was visiting the wine region of McLaren Vale and was attracted to Goolwa after viewing the club’s website.

In Rotary tradition Magdalena was presented with the club banner.

A new member, Tony McWinnie was inducted into membership, by President Di Keach.

Tony will join the Community Committee.

Guest speaker, local author Roger Rees, spoke about his involvement with the treatment of HIV/Aids.

He also talked about his visit to Ethiopia, where he observed the resilience of women living in extreme poverty.

At one time he visited the main hospital, in Addis Ababa, where there were six hundred people in the waiting room.

His latest book, No Turning Back, is the story of a young woman’s struggle through extreme difficulty.

President Di, closed the meeting with the following thought: “You will never reach your destination if you keep stopping to throw stones at barking dogs.”
