More public transport will be available to the Fleurieu if SA-BEST’s Joe Hill (Finniss) and Hazel Wainwright (Mawson) are elected.
The Regional Public Transport Plan offers new routes and improves the existing Goolwa-Victor Harbor-Adelaide service which federal Member for Mayo Rebekha Sharkie fought for.
A metro-ticketed coach service between Goolwa, Victor Harbor and Adelaide would include: a weekday early morning commuter service which stops at Seaford, Colonnades and Marion; weekday mid-morning direct services between Goolwa, Victor Harbor and Adelaide; and twice-daily direct services between Goolwa, Victor Harbor and Adelaide on weekends.
‘Community coasters’ would include: a twice-daily service from Carrickalinga to Noarlunga, stopping at Normanville, Yankalilla, Myponga and Seaford train station; a loop service from Goolwa to Yankalilla servicing Middleton, Port Elliot, Harborough, Victor Harbor and Encounter Bay; and a daily service from Clayton Bay to Mount Barker, stopping at Milang and Strathalbyn.
There would also be buses between Strathalbyn and Mount Barker every day, including weekends.
“This plan – which SA-BEST will send out to public tender – will provide greater access, particularly for young people and senior citizens, to health services, shops and employment while also addressing the barriers of social isolation,” Mr Hill said.
