The very first cookbook to focus solely on the Fleurieu Peninsula is in its final stages of development and currently trying to crowdfund a final sum of money to reach publication.
‘The Fleurieu Peninsula: Celebrating the Food and Faces’ cookbook must secure $15,000 by Monday, May 28 and is currently sitting at $8,195.
Set to showcase 80 different food producers and chefs from around the Fleurieu, across 200 pages, the book will give readers a chance to read stories and pick up tips from some of the best in the business.
Creative Director Rojina McDonald left the world of retail and decided to pursue a passion in cooking which saw her establish Cupcakes by Rojina McDonald and secure the annual Basic Patisserie Scholarship at Le Cordon Bleu in London.
It was this experience that lead her to realising how special the Fleurieu Peninsula was.
Ms McDonald said “During my time in London I realised how good I had it back home here on the Fleurieu and felt driven to share this wonderful region that I call home with the rest of world through this unique hardcover publication showcasing the Food and Faces of the Fleurieu.”
The most rewarding part of the creation process Ms Rojina said was visiting the 80 businesses featured within the book, tasting their recipes and hearing their stories.
