It was an entertaining game at Yankalilla oval on Saturday with 38 goals kicked for the day. The Tigers pushed Victor Harbor for most of the contest before caving in and losing by 91 points.
Victor Harbor kicked 10 goals in the final term to the Tigers one, which killed off what was a tough game of football.
The Roos led by 12 points at quarter time with Mckay for Victor Harbor having an absorbing ruck duel with McCallum. However it was the second term which thrilled the crowd as the Tigers kicked six goals to Victor’s eight in a free scoring game of football.
Kelly was a great focal point for the Tigers and the likes of Ross, Fletcher and Alleway were on fire for the Roos. In the third term Yankalilla continued to play with confidence with J Fitzgerald, Laba, Fisher and Wilson playing well and Victor Harbor, although on top on the scoreboard, were having difficulty gaining separation from their underdog opponent.
In the last term, Victor Harbor grabbed the initiative and attacked through the ball getting ability of Weetra, Z Dowling, Borrillo, Connors and N Dowling.
Ross, Fletcher and Alleway were dominant in the air and finished the game with 18 goals between them. The Tigers tried to stem the tide, but it was all Victor Harbor in the final term to run out easy winners.
