In perfect football conditions Yankalilla travelled to Myponga for the round eight clash with both sides desperate for a win. The Mudlarks had a height advantage over the Tigers and in the conditions had first use of the ball and were on top of the centre clearances and driving forward where Brad Merrett was looking dangerous.
The Tigers were hard at the contested ball, but turned the ball over where the Mudlarks through Ogilvie, Carroll, Allen and Mayes drove the ball forward. At quarter time the Mudlarks were ahead by 22 points.
The second quarter is where the Mudlarks took control kicking six goals. B Merrett again was on the end of many attacks which were created from defence through Matt Merrett and Flintham, who was having a great game.
For the Tigers new player Braendler was playing well alongside Bond and Fisher through the mid field, but skill errors by the Tigers were creating opportunities for the Mudlarks. Mudlarks led by 47 points at half time.
In the third quarter Shute and McConnell lifted for the Tigers and it was the Tigers best quarter. The last quarter saw both teams kick four goals apiece with the Mudlarks winning by 53 points.
The star for the day was B Merrett kicking 10 goals for the Mudlarks and the lively Stone with three. Yankalilla will be heartened by a competitive last half.
