The Victor Harbor City Band will present its annual concerts on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 of June in the Victor Harbor Town Hall, both at 2pm. For over one hundred years, the local band has provided exuberance and flair to open-air events throughout the Fleurieu Peninsula.
Numbers and finances have fluctuated over time but thanks to sound and careful administration, the band is in good shape. Difficulties could arise at any time, particularly if one of the older, larger instruments decides it has had enough but the band is progressing well with a balance of ages and genders.
The concerts are the major fundraisers for the band and audience support in the past has been both pleasing and greatly appreciated. Conductor Brenton Osborne has prepared an entertaining and enjoyable program.
Thanks to local business houses particularly in Ocean Street and nearby precincts, the raffle prizes represent a huge arrange of donated goods. Bookings at are available at Swan’s Pharmacy, Victoria Street or tickets at $15 can be purchased at the door.
International music artist Mike Rayson will perform in concert on Saturday, June 16 at 5.30 pm in the Encounter Hall, 13 Leworthy Street in Victor Harbor. Mike was born and raised at Wudinna on Eyre Peninsula.
He became a youth worker with the Uniting Church in Port Lincoln until his musical talent took him to Nashville, USA. Mike has performed in over a dozen countries and has won numerous awards and accolades.
His many life experiences have influenced his music, including the death of his oldest son Sam in 2007 at age 11, the result of a farm accident. Through it all, he has experienced grace. Don’t miss Mike’s unique blend of storytelling and music.
