The association game is done and dusted and unfortunately Southern won the A grade for the second successive season and also were victorious in under 15. Better news is that Great Southern dominated the Women’s match and the under 17 game.

It was a fantastic day and the standard of football over the four games was very high.

We now look at round nine of Great Southern football and the match of the day is between Langhorne Creek and McLaren. McLaren have had to cover for a few injuries in latter weeks, but hopefully they will return after the week off. Mutton is one that is definitely needed in the goal square. However youngsters such as Marr, Dunlop, Goodieson and the Mathews boys have enjoyed added responsibility.

The Creek will celebrate a favourite son’s 250th game in Nick Warren and Perrey, Sellar and Derham will lift for the inspirational leader.

Kiss Of Death – Langhorne Creek by 7 points.

Another big match is Mount Compass against Victor Harbor. It is time for the Roos to defeat a team above them. Alleway will be tough to counter, but likewise Pinyon and the ruck duel between McKay and Hoban will be pivotal to the result.

Kiss Of Death – Victor Harbor by 17 points.

Encounter Bay will play Goolwa/Port Elliot. Davis, Davis-Neale, Fraser Tonkin, Marshall and Karpany will have too much firepower for the Magpies, but Harper will relish the opportunity to ruck against association big man Callum Tonkin.

Kiss Of Death – Encounter Bay by 68 points.

Willunga meets Myponga/Sellicks and with doubt on Brad Merrett, the Demons will find life a lot easier. Bass, Burdett, Beath, Hoffmann and Nelson are playing well for the Demons and it will take a big effort from Tom Carroll to lift the Mudlarks.

Kiss Of Death – Willunga by 22 points.

Strathalbyn travel to Yankalilla and the Roosters have a better forward unit with Price kicking goals and Walkom doing more around the football. The Elliott boys will be the players for the Tigers to stop. Laba and Jesse Fitzgerald are going well for Yankalilla.

Kiss Of Death – Strathalbyn by 56 points.
