It was ninth versus tenth and it was the perfect opportunity for Goolwa/Port Elliot to win its first game of the season. The last time the two teams met it was the Tigers who prevailed and recorded their only win for the season so far.

With the Magpies brimming with confidence to open their account for the season, it was the Tigers who opened up with the greater hunger for the ball with Sidebottom, Branigan-Fisher, Laba, Wilson and Fisher.

The stronger desire for the ball had the Tigers up by 15 points at the first change and the margin blew to 41 points at the half time break.

The Magpies were getting entries forward, but had no forward able to capitalise from the work of Fry, Hayward, Cuthbert and Ezard.

Braendler was causing headaches everywhere for the Magpies, as they could not get that match up right, as he and Tyllis were dangerous around goals.

It just got worse for the Magpies in the second half as the tigers booted six goals to two in the third and seven goals to one in the last to run out victors by 106 points.

Braendler ended up with five goals, while Tyllis scored four and Sidebottom and Jesse Fitzgerald popped through three apiece. Wilson played well all day for Yankalilla, along with Branigan-Fisher.

Best for Goolwa/Port Elliot were Hayward, Fry, Cuthbert and Ezard.
