Willunga defeats Yankalilla in football by 117 points

The Demons travelled to Tigerland and were ready to run, run and run. Right from the start Willunga were after percentage to protect its place in the five and percentage it received. The Demons won the match by 117 points and beat Yankalilla all over the field.

It all started at the first siren to start the game as Willunga showed their intentions with Boyd, Beath, Renney and Hoffmann getting hold of the football. The Tigers when going forward could not score due to the powerful defence of the Demons.

Yankalilla managed one behind for the term, while Willunga kicked 5-3, to lead by 32 points at the first change. The Tigers showed more fight in the second term scoring two goals to five, to still trail at the long break by 52 points.

Robins, B Hogben and Fisher were working hard for the Tigers. The numbers of the Willunga contributors grew in the third term, as they kicked 9-2 to Yankalilla’s 3-1. Martin up forward was making a statement and Standfield was putting his mark on the match. 

With the game all but over, Willunga booted 6-4 in the last to the Tigers two straight goals to record a big win.

Best for Willunga were Martin with seven goals, Boyd, Beath, Renney, Hoffmann and Standfield.

For the Tigers, none tried harder than Robins, Hogben, Laba, McConnell, Shute and Fisher.
