It would take a miracle for the final five to change after round 18. Encounter Bay would need to lose to the bottom side and Victor Harbor would have to defeat the top side. Both highly unlikely, after a very eventful round 17 where the Roos were defeated by Willunga in a very respectful Indigenous match and the Bays had a draw against top three side McLaren. This meant the Bays leapfrogged Victor Harbor and are in the five.

In the other games Myponga/Sellicks and Langhorne Creek had big wins over Yankalilla and Goolwa/Port Elliot respectively and Mount Compass demolished Strathalbyn, as they approach finals and laying claim to a three-peat.

Round 18 will be the final game of football for five teams this weekend. Encounter Bay, who are now comfortably in fifth take on the Magpies and the Goolwa/Port Elliot will start looking into 2019 after having the year it had to have.

Harper is one they must keep as his ruck work has improved as year has progressed and his duel with Callum Tonkin will be a beauty. Godwin-Knott will be another who will worry the Bays, along with Payne, Casey, Longmire and Hayward. However the Bays are too even all over the ground with Horrocks and Wilson going to another level and Hamish and Fraser Tonkin giving great support.

Kiss Of Death – Encounter Bay by 75 points.

Myponga/Sellicks play Willunga and the Mudlarks will worry the Demons with Merrett boys and Carroll on song. Hoffmann, Burdett, Beath, Standfield, Collier and Cook are in great touch for the Demons.

Kiss Of Death – Willunga by 9 points.

Strathalbyn play Yankalilla and both clubs have had shocker years. The Roosters will get up with captain Marc Elliott having a day out. Slattery and Tucker always have a go for the Roosters. Tigers rely on Matty Wilson, McCallum, Laba and Garner to do too much.

Kiss Of Death – Strathalbyn by 37 points.

Victor Harbor take on top side Mount Compass and the tall forward power of Hill, Ellis, Pinyon and Ziggy Vitkunas will be too much for the Roos. Ross is a superstar of the competition and Bartram has a crack for Victor.

Kiss Of Death – Mount Compass by 28 points.

McLaren host Langhorne Creek in a game which will be duplicated in the first week of the finals. neither side will play all their cards.

Kiss Of Death – Langhorne Creek by 14 points.

Good luck this Sunday for the Mini Colts carnival to be held at Strathalbyn and Langhorne Creek. It is a great day for the league’s under 12s.
