What makes a painting worth millions of dollars, and sometimes even 100 million dollars?

Locals can find out when UK art lecturer Ian Swankie visits Victor Harbor for ADFAS on September 3 to speak on the topic of the most expensive art in the world.

Swankie is an official guide at Tate Modern and an accredited lecturer for The Arts Society.

He will look at the top end of the art market, and examine varied top-rated artists, including Picasso, Cezanne, DaVinci, Modigliani, Klimt, Bacon and Pollack, and ask that all-important question: Are they are really worth millions of dollars?

Attend the talk on The World’s Most Expensive Art – Where Leonardo meets Picasso, on Monday September 3, at the Gospel Centre, with morning tea from 9.45am and lecture at 10.30am.
