The Goolwa Concert Band, with support from the Alexandrina Council, presents “Band Favourites” music, chosen by the band members for their annual fundraising concert.

Great tunes include Summertime, Moon River, The House of the Rising Sun, Unforgettable, a few more popular pieces from the 60s and 70s, and a couple of Tangos as well.

Irrepressible compere Colin Rodgers gives his own twist to them all and will perform Minnie the Moocher.

They are thrilled to have the Combined Goolwa Schools Choir led by Vicki Hudson, plus their friends Dawn and Dave, and the dancers from the Fortuna Dance School, as special guests.

Lead by Leon Lambert and featuring vocalist Sharon Harding, join the band for the show at the fabulous Centenary Hall in Goolwa and enjoy an afternoon with the community band who are dedicated to providing entertaining live music within the Alexandrina district.

The concert is on Sunday, September 9 at 2pm. Tickets are $10. To book, call 1300 466 592 or visit www.visitalexandrina.com, or buy at the door.

The band practices in the hall at 6.30 Tuesday nights. Any enquiries Ph 0418 839 194.

Loaded Billy returns

Original hard rock/stoner band Loaded Billy will be returning to play two shows on the Fleurieu.

Due to the success of their gig at The Wreckers Live in Goolwa on July 7, they will be performing at the venue again on September 1 with support band Skarbiluze.

It will be a concert set of originals plus the usual suspects by Budgie, Pink Floyd, Ozzy Osbourne and Hendrix.

Skarbiluze will kick the night off from 8.30pm for an hour set, performing their versions of classic rock and blues. Loaded Billy will hit the stage around 10pm.

Then they will be performing a show later in the year, at the Beach House Café on Sunday, November 18, starting at 2pm.

The recording of their album is moving along; all the music tracks have been completed and work has started on vocals.

  • The show on September 1 is at The Wreckers Live, 4 Dowdodd Crescent, Goolwa. Entry is $10.
