RSL Hall bursting with colour for orchid show

From Thursday to Sunday, the Victor Harbor RSL Hall was bursting with colour for the South Coast Orchid Club Southern Region’s annual show.

Eleven exhibitors put forward a total of 65 entries for this year’s show.

Among the plants was a dendrobium grown by Ruth Tugwell, of Victor Harbor.

That plant won the grand champion prize, along with champion of first division, champion Australian native, and champion specimen.

The reserve champion and champion of second division of the orchid show was won by Helen Humphrys with another dendrobium. It was a nice plant with bright purple flowers.

Helen has been growing orchids for 18 years, and also won the champion zygopetalum and all three size classes for champion cymbidium over 90mm, 60-90mm and under 60mm.
