Victor Harbor hockey club have successful first day of hockey finals

Great day for the semi finals held at Victor on Saturday. Victor had a very successful day with three teams going straight into the grand final and two teams with second chances.

Victor’s under 16 White defeated Aldinga Black 5-3. The A Grade Women’s game was a derby for the Victor ladies. Victor Blue hadn’t beaten White all year. Blue played their short passing style of game well in the first half which really paid off as they managed to score mid way through the first half. 

Blue showed some great team work and were rewarded with a second goal. In the second half Victor White came out strong and after many short corner attempts Victor White’s Elferaan Williams slotted a rocketing ball past Blue’s goalie. Blue held White out and go straight into the Grand Final. White will play Goolwa next week.

In the Men’s A grade final Victor White defeated Victor Blue. Victor Blue will now play Victor Grey next week. Victor Grey took the win over Aldinga Black to earn the chance to play Blue next week. The Victor under 13 Blue team went down to Goolwa. Goolwa will now play Aldinga Black in the preliminary final.

In under 13, Yankalilla 5 defeated Aldinga Black 1. Yankalilla scored from a penalty flick taken by Rhun and had control of the game. Coell successful in getting a goal himself. A great display of passing between Grace, Emily and Jordan in the circle enabled Jordan to score.  

Under 16 – Victor Blue 5 defeated Yankalilla 1. Victor scored three quick goals. Hassam was displaying skill and strength, ably supported by Jasper and Mitchell for Victor. It was to be Rhun who got Yankalilla’s only score of the game.

Men – Yankalilla 2 defeated Victor 0. Yankalilla scored through Liam Curtis and Mark Baldock.

Women – Goolwa 3 defeated Yankalilla 2. In a great game of hockey the match was decided in extra time.  Goolwa scored first and then Yankalilla scored twice in succession. The elation was short lived as Goolwa managed to get another goal to take the game into an extra five minutes where Goolwa were successful.
