Two public education teachers from the region have been recognised as finalists in the public education awards, celebrating the outstanding work they have undertaken.
The local teachers who managed these achievements are Matt Millar, of McLaren Vale Primary School for Primary Teacher of the Year and Megan Ring, of Willunga High School for Secondary Teacher of the Year.
Both Matt and Megan will now go in the running the win $10,000 (per category) with each runner-up also being recognised with $2,000 towards professional development.
Minister for Education John Gardner said the record number of nominations made in this year’s awards reflects the high number of quality staff working hard to strengthen the education system and improve learning outcomes for students.
“Everyone who received a nomination should feel very proud that their dedication and work within education has been recognised by others.”
The 2018 awards ambassador, Adelaide Football Club player, Eddie Betts, said it’s great how their communities have shown support by nominating.
“I’m proud to be able to raise the profile of the achievements of the outstanding finalists who are at the top of their game.”
