Tonkins Sports finish top in Great Southern badminton

The Great Southern Badminton Association completed the last of the minor round matches last Thursday night.

Stanvac Korean Autoparts; Yulius TejoSeputro, Daniel Halse, Laya Ramos, Jack Read, Tala Ramos, Simon Hayes, Dale Wilson and Brynn Hayes scored 344 points to defeat McDonald's- V.H's; Mark Williamson, Sam Traforti, Jodie Veron, AJ Bedell, Sarah Hill, Mark Dickinson, Matt East and Zachary Daniell with 291 points.

In the A Doubles: Daniel/Yulius d Sam/Mark and Tala/Laya d Sarah/Jodie.

B Doubles: Tala/Brynn d Sarah/Zachary and Zachary/AJ d Brynn/Jack.  C Doubles: Matt/AJ d Dale/Jack and Zachary/Matt d Brynn/Dale. In the Singles: Jodie d Laya, AJ d Jack, Sam d Daniel and Yulius d Mark.

In the nights other match Tonkin's Sport's; Matt Woollacott, Prav Sacaran, Meredith Hough, Joshua Edwards, Sandie Sierke, Allan Tonkin, Greg Beames and Matthew Jones scored 358 points to defeat Hamper Warehouse's; Lochlan Hodge, Simon Brayford, Narelle Stewart, Bryan Anderson, Rainy Jiang, Joe van Dalen, Rodney Beswick and Estelle Brayford with 281 points.

A Doubles: Lochlan/Simon d Matt/Prav, Meredith/Sandie d Narelle/Rainy and Rodney/Lochlan d Greg/Matt. B Doubles: Matthew/Joshua d Estelle/Bryan and Sandie/Prav d Rainy/Simon. C Doubles: Sandie/Allan d Rainy/Joe and Estelle/Joe d Matthew/Allan. In the Singles: Joshua d Bryan, Matt d Lochlan and Simon d Prav.

The finals series will now be played Thursday nights over the next three weeks, with the grand final to be played on September 20. Tonkin's Sports have finished as minor premiers (with 60 points) and will play McDonalds Victor Harbor (2nd with 52 points).

Stanvac Korean Autoparts (3rd with 44 points) will play Victor Podiatry Centre (4th with 32 points) in an elimination final.

The winner of the qualifying final will advance straight to the grand final, while the losing team will play the winner of the elimination final in a preliminary final the following week.
