Victor Harbor’s Luka Millar crowned netball queen of the Great Southern Netball Association

It was the Great Southern Netball Association’s night of nights for its senior grades at the Hotel Victor on Monday, September 3.

Victor Harbor goal defence Luka Millar won the League Best and Fairest award by one vote from Goolwa goal shooter Kylie Jarrett. Luka polled 19 votes.

Awards were presented in all senior grades, which included League, Senior 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 and special awards were presented to Volunteers of the year Carol Overy from Willunga and Bev Copping from Strathalbyn.

Player Life Membership was awarded to Langhorne Creek’s Karen Francis, Umpire Achievement award went to Jodie Lienert from Yankalilla, who has umpired more than 300 games and the association’s Rising Star was Annabel Crawford  from Yankalilla.

One of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of The Times 2018 Great Southern Netball Association Team of the Year.

This year’s team voted by its peers was Goal Shooter - Kylie Jarrett from Goolwa, Goal Attack - Amanda Martin (Victor Harbor), Wing Attack – Melissa Apthorpe (Goolwa), Centre - Hannah Priest (Goolwa), Wing Defence -  Emma Gryczewski (Victor Harbor), Goal Defence - Luka Millar (Victor Harbor), Goal Keeper - Sally Fuller (Victor Harbor) and Coach – Pauline Edwards (Victor Harbor).
