The South Coast Hockey Association will hold its grand finals on Saturday at the Yankalilla Hockey Grounds.
On Saturday preliminary finals were held and in Women A grade Victor White 1 defeated Goolwa 0.
This was a tense final with both teams determined for a win, but Goolwa’s hopes were deflated when Victor were the first to score during the first half.
However, after the half time pep talk Goolwa came out and took control of the game earning numerous short corners. But they just could not manage to get the ball past Victor’s strong defence.
It wasn’t until the last minute of the game that Goolwa seemed to have made the equalising score only to have it disallowed as the ball was shot outside the circle.
Such a disappointment to a hard fought game by both sides. Victor White will play Victor Blue for the A grade Women’s title.
In Men’s A grade it all came down to a shootout with Victor Grey handling the pressure best and winning through against Victor Blue. Victor Grey will now meet Victor White in the grand final.
In the Men’s B grade Goolwa 3 defeated Yankalilla 1.
Yankalilla bow out of their finals run when Goolwa took control of the game from the start, with Brayden Peel dominating the game with his accurate goal shots for Goolwa.
Yankalilla could not get any hold on the game mainly having to defend a lot of the time. Whenever they did get into attack, Goolwa’s defence were too strong and held them out. Goolwa will play Aldinga Blue on grand final day.
In B grade Women Aldinga Blue 4 defeated Aldinga Black 0 and Blue will now meet Aldinga Green in the grand final.
In under 16 Victor Blue won their way through to the grand final to play Victor White after defeating Aldinga Black 6-1 and in the under 13 preliminary final Aldinga Black defeated Goolwa in extra time and will play Yankalilla in the grand final.
